Anna is 67 years old and in good health. She currently spends $730 in yearly drug costs by ordering her drugs
from Canada. If she were to purchase her medications
from within the U.S. the same drugs would cost an
estimated $1,258. By using Medicare Part D, those
drugs would cost Anna $886, rather than the $730 she
currently spends in Canada.
Heres how it works:
Annas deductible is $250. Once Anna reaches her
$250 deductible, Medicare starts to cover 75% of her
costs, which equals 75% of $1,008, or $756. Anna also
has to pay for her monthly premium of $32 each month, which comes to about $384 per year.
